Heather Morris ‘Dancing With The Stars’ Premiere Routine Called “Beautiful” (VIDEO)
Heather Morris and partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy’s performance was called “beautiful” by all the judges on Monday’s “Dancing With The Stars” premiere. They performed a Viennese waltz to Ben Rector’s aptly named “Make Something Beautiful.” Watch the video below.
Morris is following in the footsteps of her former “Glee” co-star Amber Riley, who won “Dancing With The Stars” on Season 17 with Derek Hough in 2013. Morris’s participation on the competition series has received some backlash since she was previously a professional dancer. In fact, at one point, Morris was a backup dancer for Beyonce.
Last week, Morris’s partner defended her on “The View.” In response to concern that she has a distinct advantage, Chmerkovskiy responded, “I get it. We’ve had people in the past that had just as extensive dance background. But the pressure’s gonna be bigger. We’re going to have to have more to do.”
About her performance, Carrie Ann Inaba felt, “I didn’t get to know you yet through the dance, but it was beautiful.” Len Goodman offered, “You are a very accomplished dancer… I think you have a match made it heaven [with Maks].” Julianne Hough said, “I thought it was beautiful.” She added , “You have grace and elegance.” And Bruno Tonioli noted, “I think we’re in for something magic here.” He further said, “The routine was beautiful, simple… I loved it.”
For her very first dance of the season, Morris received 28 out of 40. Check out the video below of Morris’s Viennese waltz to Ben Rector’s “Make Something Beautiful” on Monday’s “Dancing With The Stars.”
